Dion Anthony and William “Billy” Brown have been competing for the love of Margaret since their youth. Ultimately, the wild and creative Anthony won the girl while the staid and cautious Brown became a financial success. In their world, as in our own, you always want what you cannot have. The Great God Brown is Eugene O’Neill’s violently lyrical exploration of the quest to possess one’s own identity and perhaps someone else’s as well.
